School Grants

School Grants For Graduate And Doctoral Students

Many colleges, universities and private organizations offer college grants for graduate students and doctoral candidates as well. The grants offered by some colleges and universities can be quite comprehensive, and in some cases, they may even be sufficient to cover the bulk of a doctoral student’s research, and even his or her living expenses.

In addition, graduate students that are required to travel to another country for further studies, participate in research activities, or attend conferences may be eligible for several smaller grants offered by certain organizations. Some college grants may even cover some or all the costs of school related travel.

College grants definitely serve an essential purpose to student that may not have the means to pay for a college education.

While searching for–and obtaining–an appropriate college grant can be a difficult and lengthy process, you can be secure in the knowledge that they are out there and that they can be an invaluable aid in your educational goals.

Students that have already completed undergraduate degrees and are looking to continue on to a graduate degree program have a number of options in funding to choose from. In fact, many of the student loans that were applied for during the undergraduate years may still be used to finance graduate education. Some of these student loans are:

• The Graduate Stafford Loan
• The Perkins Loan

In addition, students that agree to later teach in educational institutions in high need areas may also avail of the Project reach program offered by The University of Phoenix. This program is intended mainly for students who are looking to obtain their Masters Degree in Education.

Doctoral students may also apply for grants from colleges and universities that offer Ph.D. degree programs. Applicants for these doctoral programs are often required to teach and tutor students from high need areas in exchange for educational funding. Keep in mind that the competition for such programs can be quite stiff, and only the very best and brightest are chosen.

Among the organizations that offer doctoral grants is the Department of Veteran’s Affairs, which offers financial assistance to students who take Health Rehabilitation, Psychology, Women’s Health, and Health Informatics.
